Have been living nearby for almost three years now and this is a first. That loft space gets out of control sometimes, but not like this. They really need to hire security for the space, and make sure their attendees stop trashing the streets. PEOPLE LIVE HERE.

exactly. And don't you just love when people in power, the people with literally everything - they are expected to REGULATE THEMSELVES! Isn't it hilarious! but for some strange reason they want to make sure and audit everyone I know who doesn't have a pot to piss in. This is a perfect example why I watch in both disgust and disbelief when they divide the people and people trip over themselves trying to defend any of these lying ass politicians. They are playing the people by performative theater. They use each other as fake opposition. Meanwhile they always will defend their so called "adversary" when it comes to covering up their crimes.
I pray to see a day where all the people truly stand together in solidarity like these frauds do. The day that happens, its all over. Imagine regular citizens working and moving as block, united as one. Don't wanna give us healthcare? wanna try to force this and that on us or a population - only to have all those people to throw the shovel down all at once. Thats force that cannot be beaten. THAT, THAT I would love to see. cause there are a lot more of the angry, screwed, disenchanted, and powerless than there are of them.
I apologize for the rant. I hope you all are well out there. And have a good holiday.

I think thats one of the big ways Tesla has made money by just selling their carbon credits to other companies who then use it to offset their own carbon emission requirements. Its really silly thinking the market will self regulate itself. These companies are there to make a profit, and they can't exist without keeping investors and funders happy. Things like fines and stuff just is part of the calculation they do during business.

Its stuff like this that makes me sick. And u/recnilcram, SPOT ON. It is procedural. This is like anytime some dickhead(s) pollute/ poison an entire city. Flint would be a great example. Rick Snyder - Poisons the population with lead and contaminates - has the President of the time (Obama) run cover for him - and Snyder got hit with a paltry $2000 dollar fine and probation. And I just read a few days ago - that EVEN THAT got dropped. No greedy shithead gives an absolute damn unless its their kids, and in their backyard. I'm 100% convinced. People will always be OK with the suffering of others. As long as it doesn't touch close to him. Its a pathetic, but sickening fact. Or at least that's what I've seen given the courses of action. Hope you and your families all stay safe out there.

So what is our call to action? Do we call senators? What should we do to ensure these companies pay up and Newark can continue building a waterfront?

In like 1940 it was 10% and Essex, Bergen, Hudson combined was like the bulk of the state. We really suburbanized after that.

Looks procedural: "Under the consent decree, which followed an agreement by the companies and federal agencies, public comment on the settlement will be open for 45 days. At that point, the DOJ and EPA will review comments, prepare a response and — if the resolution is still determined to be appropriate — seek approval of the consent decree from the federal court, said Stephen McBay, an EPA spokesman."

It's weird, I know Newark's population, and I know NJ's, but it never clicked that Newark comprised such a small percentage until you pointed it out.

If you do the math, Newark is only like 3% of the state’s population now.

People pay a sales tax on soda. Every consumable good is taxed. And soda is regulated by the FDA as is almost everything you eat and drink. You are arguing for zero taxes and zero regulations. That is idiotic.
