If you want to be pedantic, it is one crime.

I walk and drive them daily. I see luxury apartments being built, corporations moving in, parks being built, as well as restaurants opening up.
Like any city, it has its good and bad parts. That’s my anecdotal evidence, check the statistics for the entire picture…. Or selectively read headlines and generalize an entire city based on an article.

If he had a permit and the right to be there, then this is messed up. Sometimes the truck looks too close to the intersection. I believe 25 feet is the state law. And most times this guy’s music is so loud it’s actually painful to walk past. Like so loud it’s actually physically painful. (Or am I mixing him up with someone else on that corner?)
I can see if the music was too loud or it was too close to the intersection and he was gone the cops calling the tow truck. If he was there, I would hope they would just ask him to turn it down and/or back up a bit from the stoplight. Trying to get under the bus is a weird and bad decision and probably freaked out the cops.

Also, wtf was the tow truck doing the day before thanksgiving!? I know at least two people who’ve been towed even though they had every right to be there.

You could be right for sure. I have seen people murdered, assaulted, robbed, and stabbed following motor vehicle accidents in Newark. It's sad, and not common, but it does happen. But definitely makes sense that it was shooter fleeing up hill.
EDIT - nvm you already know what goes on.

First off, you're talking complete bollocks.
Second, if it's so shitty and undesirable to you, then stay the fuck out of our city and our sub. You don't want to be here & we don't want you here - the solution seems simple.

No the post itself is the reality, your comment is added cynicism meant to mock people who see positives. This post doesn’t erase the growth the city has seen, but it fits into the story. Whereas your comment has nothing to do with painting the picture, it’s just meant to be snide. It’s not as if people are any more or less aware with your comment added to the news article.

It’s no different than the post just showing the reality . People on here want to make believe things are getting better when they are not , then get upset when they are confronted with reality .

Lol what is this comment supposed to do ? Throw more cynicism on to a already slow growing city ? You doing community service or something to balance out this attitude ?

You're misinterpreting it, the car accident most likely occurred after the shooting with the shooter trying to get away.

Garbage response. If you really think that the cops don't harass street vendors, you are the most naive person in the world.

Garbage story. Follow the laws and don't confront the police, i don't believe for a minute that the police/city would take such action without probable cause.

Unless a ticket is validated or activated, it’s not valid for the train. It sounds like you don’t understand how it works.

It doesn’t become validated for a couple of minutes after you tell it to validate, so there’s no reason not to do it way upstairs.

Mass transit should be free, but it isn’t, and if you can afford it, quit screwing around or you’re eventually gonna have to pay $75.

Pay the fine, you’ll be fine.
For future reference, you’re supposed to activate them above ground. They don’t start working for a few minutes after activation, for this very reason.

When you walk and drive through those streets you see what’s really going on. Nothing has changed .

That’s only if you go by data and statistics.
Anecdotally, you can paint whatever picture you like depending on the headline you choose to read.

Think they used the app then probably got on or off at penn with no signal. If you get on around some of the underground locations definitely possible to lose connection before the digital validation finishes. I've had it happen once or twice when not wanting to miss the train.

Mulberry Street? It's the only apartment building I can think of a Mulberry Street is the old Newark news building complex with a huge parking lot facing Mulberry Street.

Unlike regular NJ Transit trains with conductors punching tickets, Light Rail operates on an honor System of ticket validation. The purpose of validating a ticket is to prevent you from using the same ticket both ways or handing it over to a friend to use. By not having a ticket validated or stamped, there's no way to prove you didn't just get that ticket from someone else or you're trying to double dip. Now if the cop sees your receipt and there's no reasonable way you could have double dipped within that time window and he still gives you a ticket, he's a douchebag. But it's a million times cheaper to just pay the ticket than to fight it. It's not like you got a DUI or something requiring a lawyer. It sucks, but you got to be careful and follow directions.

You are supposed to activate it upstairs where the giant sign is, not on the platform level
