I don't disagree at all but the thread was empty when I came across it, and I honestly don't know if we have any authentic Japanese spots here.

This would be akin to suggesting panda express to someone who wants Chinese food, or Taco Bell to someone who wants Mexican food.

Japanese food may not be the best in Newark, try Hoboken or Jersey City. They have great places. In newark you will find the best Portuguese/ Spanish food and very good Brazilian steak houses.

Your thought for the day:
Population of Iceland: 372,520
Population of Newark NJ: 307,220
Population of Essex County NJ: 854,917
For scale purposes!
The fact that Iceland produced a talent as world class as Bjork with that tiny of a population is truly something else!

Downtown Newark doesn't have anywhere near the residential population to support Halsey Street being pedestrian only. I only find out about new spots at Halsey when I happened to spot them by accident while waiting for the light. You make Halsey Street pedestrian only I guarantee you thousands of people will never set eyes on that street that would otherwise do so on their visit to Rutgers or NJIT having just gotten off 280.

Hope this actually gets built! Based on the renders as of right now, this building looks sharp.
Given both its current design and huge size relative to the other nearby buildings downtown between both parks, this building could be a real focal point for attention for the city and be a standout/iconic landmark - in a literal sense) for Newark (i.e. exterior shots of Newark on Devils games focus on this tower, use it in stock photos of the city.
