They should make Halsey pedestrian only - there’s no need for cars to drive through the tiny street.

It's a situation that alot of these businesses gotta try and holdout till these buildings get finished having people move in create more sidewalk traffic to sustain these businesses.

They're moving to Gateway 2 which is like 5 minutes away but in a much much much better area as it's connected to the gateway concourse and Penn Station

10 minutes of fame for our struggling Halsey Street businesses before we continue business as usual in ignoring them and then feeling sad when the stores close.
See the ghost of 19B clothing + burger wallah.

Sakura Japan is my go to spot. Is it authentic Japanese food? I have no idea, but it's at a very convenient location on broad street which is a 10 minute walk from NJPac, or if you're city savvy, one light rail stop away from Penn Station.
The food allows me to enter a food coma and feel good about myself for 20 minutes before having to resume work.

Why eat Japanese food in newark? Why not have some of the best Portuguese food in the country?

It's sad they did it like that. It's the same color as the Frank Lautenberg Secacus Juntion. The redeeming quality is the entranceway with the vertical art deco flair. This aligns with the transit wing at NY penn and the waiting room in Newark penn.

Its always been embarrassing that NJT is headquartered in a building thats like 50% giant parking garage

Wow I didn’t know that. Given the location, I’m surprised they are not cleaning it up.

They're making an effort now because they probably were told by these luxury apartment developers our tenants don't want to have to walk through a sea of homeless around Newark Penn station. Because for 18 years I've been around in that area and they didn't start doing anything about the homeless until all these luxury buildings were announced

I'd love if they converted it into something...anything we don't have to wait years and years for...
