It is in complete disarray, has clearly been abandoned for a long time, and needs another 500k minimum put it into it. Might be some of the ornate original interior that's salvageable, but I imagine most of it would have to get trashed, and taken down to the studs.

It almost seems someone saw this as a fixer upper and started to work on it ( a couple of more modern details and finishes) and ran out of money and then just abandoned it.

I've really been oddly clueless about the whole renovation, including thinking some spots WOULD be at street level. Did I dream that being an original intention? I was excited to see Chip City opening next week, but indeed rolled my eyes when I saw the 6pm closing time.

The whole idea of the gateway center sucks. Have stores on the street level! It’s just makes Newark a deadzone from penn to mulberry. That they have these awful hours is insult to injury.

It's going to be open 11am to 3pm two days a week because a homeless person might try and have a cookie so they can't keep it open for real hours. The gateway center is such a shitty scam and should have been demolished instead.

look at those outlets IN SIDE OF the beautiful decorative molding near the floor in all of the rooms. A dead giveaway that the electrical is original knob and tube and needs to be totally gutted.
