Hobby’s Delicatessen and a drink or three at McGoverns. Get some great small plates at casa de Paco. Not a ton of time for a layover to explore.

Hope this place succeeds - so far, except for some places on Halsey, restaurants and bars in this area have mostly come and gone.

Yeah Im referring to the skybridge from Penn Station, which had the metal gates down even though they replied 5 hours earlier and said "it was open". Clearly the social media person doesnt actually work in Newark.
Ive never tried the doors on Market but theres usually a guard inside
Ill use Penn tomorrow so Ill check again

The side doors on that side are still open though IIRC. I was talking about the Newark Penn Station side. Haven’t been in since Friday so IDK.

On Monday they replied to a comment that the signs were gone and it was open...and I replied I was standing at Penn at 6pm and the gates were closed. They deleted my comment.
Yesterday I walked past the building on Mulberry and the caution tape was still up with the guard there, but I didnt try to go in.

Fresh update on this front - I commented this on their instagram post about it back on Friday and followed up w a DM yesterday, they say they escalated the comments up internally and they were assured of that at the time the signs would be taken down and guards would not check for badges. They also followed up this morning saying they checked with the guards and they confirmed that the bridge was in fact open.
Haven’t been yet to confirm myself, but it looks like they are aware of it and that action has been taken.

Was an article maybe a year ago that part of the renovation was going to be a sit down restaurant/lounge on ground floor

Oof, nasty spot for residential buildings if true. That intersection of 21 and Bridge Street is crazy busy and loud basically all day long.

And it looks like they deleted most of the comments including the ones about staying open late and the ones pointing out they were lying

I heard the garage is getting knocked down. Being replaced with 4 or 5 residential buildings.

EWR is half in Elizabeth, Nj so if it’s your thing, Jersey Gardens Mall and IKEA are close by. Jersey city has downtown nightlife and view of NYC. Manhattan if you’re not exhausted.
