I kind of take issue with Jersey Digs’ Op-Ed’s for articles like this and that ongoing Mosque sale saga. Not even necessarily for the positions themselves, but how they’re articulated and don’t really make an effort to dive deep into larger nuances.

I respect Jersey Digs’ coverage of a lot of Development in the area that might otherwise go overlooked in the NY/NJ real estate press, but this eats into some of that goodwill.

This doesn't work as a causal argument. For a causal argument, you need to estimate the counterfactual. If JC had built less housing, the prices in JC would likely be even higher.

Housing is MUCH more affordable in parts of the US where there are fewer restrictions on building and construction that drive up the price.

I suggest Matt Yglesias' book The Rent is Too Damn High: https://www.amazon.com/Rent-Too-Damn-High-Matters-ebook/dp/B0078XGJXO/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=the+rent+is+too+damn+high&qid=1671828970&sprefix=the+rent+is+too%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-1

Probably after halo tower 3 is completed and is probably half way full or full with residents that’s when they’ll build the next two towers at the same time. Imagine this as the journal square towers

I agree with both of you, by why not do both at the same time? Can’t get your life on track if you can’t get your mind right first, but part of that journey to work on your mental and physical health is having a safe and clean place to live. On the other hand, like the top comment said, you can’t expect people who are unstable to be able to assimilate back into society smoothly without the proper mental health care.

I'm annoyed pseg keeps playing spoiler every time and areas Target for redevelopment they take a huge chunk of the land away and put a giant substation. They put a giant substation right in the heart of the Fairmont neighborhood plan . Other than Georgia King development , every other Redevelopment plan for that area has disappeared . Down in downtown, PSEG did the same, wrecking the Soma master plan for residential high-rises between William Street and Court Street. They better move fast and build before PSEG decides to expand their South Street area substation.

I agree with you there. Amazon from the get-go was going to Arlington Virginia. This entire hq2 thing was a scam, US charade to pick desperate cities against each other to see who could offer the most ridiculous tax incentives. We all know Newark won that contest. No other city in America was able to match what New Jersey offered on behalf of Newark. But the whole hq2 thing was a farce to see if Arlington Virginia would match the lowest offer. That's exactly what happened! Even though the Arlington Virginia deal was inferior to newark's, Amazon chose Arlington anyway. To save face, they decided to split it between NYC and Arlington VA. Of course the reality, they wanted everything in Virginia. That's why they were so quick to bolt as soon as New York congresswoman AOC complained about the NYC offer.

But Newark screwed up big time with Amazon when they caved in to a bunch of leftist protesters against an airport warehouse for Amazon. I'm sure Newark is now on Jeff Bezos no go list.

Don't be surprised if he pulls audible out of Newark eventually. You don't become a billionaire by being nice. These people are vindictive and sometimes, even evil and dangerous.

This will not end homelessness in Newark. And it'll have the opposite effect, it'll encourage more homeless into Newark.

The only way to end homelessness is to rebuild all the Mental Hospitals with demolished! All this homeless epidemic began as soon as mental psychiatric institutions were abolished. Expecting mentally unstable people to maintain a schedule regimen of taking pills has landed us here. Most of these homeless people are not people that are down on their luck like we had during the Great Depression. These are 99% alcohol and substance abusers who are trapped in a mental Loop they can't get out of. They need to be institutionalized until the demons are out of the system and they are able to function as normal human beings. And if they are never capable of being functional, then they should stay there. Not as prisoners, they should be free during the day to go about, work, shop, visit nearby family but like a halfway house, provided they follow the rules.

Yeah it really is, already on the fifth floor, we can let the instagram page keep the updates since they post after every story built. Can’t wait to see it in the skyline though

So I actually read the article this time and this is great. Right now it’s all proposed or approved projects which I do hope it can break ground. It’s pretty cool Newark is getting these little neighborhoods or cities inside the downtown area. Lincoln park can have its own, NJPAC is about to build there’s next fall, museum parc, CitiSquare, vermalla broad, and if halo towers can spark more development surrounding the towers then that’s a whole new neighborhood right there. Having multiple parts of a downtown area is pretty cool. How because people living in Lincoln park area may be doing different things in the CitiSquare area creating different vibes as you visit these neighborhoods. In 2030 which the majority of these projects should be finished in we will definitely see the difference. If we can’t get that path stop then maybe the city can raise money for that station or we can expand the light rail but the extra station would probably cost less.

The issue is the 'need' for a new car on a lease.

I've not once in my life owned a new car. It's not that complicated.

Granted, car prices are insane in general right now - even more reason to look into the 2004 accord versus the 2022 Acura RX

Edit: there is a fine balancing point between buying "money pit" and stretching to buy a reliable (but less sexy) automobile
