I've seen them before and after Layne. If I had to pick one though, it'd be Black Gives Way to Blue. I love AoC though.

Recently found out that Thom Yorke was inspired by Jeff Buckley after seeing him in concert to rework Fake Plastic Trees

Turns out I'm a dumb dumb who confused the two songs. I concede.

This was my first thought. There are many other great examples in this thread, but I think the Gibb brothers truly nailed falsetto in their harmonies. I am not even a big fan of the Bee Gees, but can recognize their skills none the less.

I thought this was the same guy that sings for this band. I mean, I guess it's not, but I like them both for the same reason.

Collective Soul, The World I know. Song hits deep and hell, I'm in NYC so I related to the guy in the song sometimes. Life can suck balls but you keep on truckin. Take the hits and get back up.

I know Bon Iver from Skinny Lover. Stacks maybe didn't make me that sad, but I really liked it anyways!

Mount Eerie is a side project of Phil Elverum of The Microphones
This song is from an album he made grieving the death of his wife, if you are looking for some super sad music that album is one of the toughest to go through
