But land is always being sold and available.

There's a lot. And I don't want to turn this thread into that. Suffice it to say I'm not "running" away from NY state, we just prefer the land, region and feel of the outdoors in Vermont and Maine.
And no hostility intended this is more aimed at all the anti newcomers in this thread...Maine is part of the US and as an American, I have the right to buy land and live anywhere in the US I want.

A lot of people have the same dream. It’s not the Waltons anymore so definitely talk with the towns code enforcement before buying but it’s still possible but they aren’t making any more land…

Pretty sure someone drove their vehicle past something they weren’t involved in and then went to Reddit because they were nosy. Other things could have happened too.

I was never particularly concerned about being white in Baltimore. Very few white people being murdered. Random guns floating around though kept you on your toes.

"Bad" by Mainer standards usually means where the homeless and/or non-white people reside.
I lived in the area for a year or two and would laugh when people said it was a bad neighborhood... I used to live in Chicago though, and I've spent a lot of time in Baltimore.

Exactly. I lived in St. Louis for a few years and there’s areas you don’t wanna be if you are light skin. Portland I can walk anywhere at night and not even be scared once unlike STL and Baltimore like you said.

For example? What "NYC-centric" laws in upstate NY do you think you'll avoid in Maine or Vermont?

Bad areas of Portland? Is that a joke?
It's so bad that there isn't a house for sale anywhere near there for less than 400k if you could find one.
Coming from Baltimore I don't think anyone around here knows what a bad neighborhood looks like.
I think it's fairly unusual to see a Glock lying on the street and yeah I lived in medium shitty Baltimore neighborhoods for 5 years.

Nothing that people should get freaked out about. That's one of the bad areas of Portland. When you live there long enough you get immune to that kind of stuff.

I mentioned it another comment . New York state is a police state. Laws created for NYC affect the whole state and their economy is different than the rest of the state so it creates for a state that's really more legislated than it need to be

It all balances its self out in the end. One tax can be high in said state but have lower taxes on another

Your fine. Long as the gun doesn't have a user it's pretty harmless.

I'm currently living in England, but have spent half my life living in both New England, and original flavour England, and I'm always utterly baffled by the absence of chip/crisps flavours in the States, vs what's available here in the UK. Why doesn't anyone in America make roast chicken, beef, or bacon flavoured chips, since they're all universally beloved in the States already?! Not to mention some other righteous flavours, like pickled onion, prawn cocktail, or even just basic cheese flavoured Lays, specifically sans the sour cream? I think it's so baffling, since the country is fucking huuuuge, and there's presumably gotta be a market, but I've literally never even seen an attempt to test the waters for one.

Reply to Maine Yard Care by AppointmentNo3240
I start as soon as sections of the yard is free of snow and dries. Usually begin by raking and getting rid all the junk left from over the winter. I lime and fertilize when it will readily absorb into the soil. Crabgrass treatment is a preamergant (sp?) check on the bag for the timing. On the bug treatment, use caution as that stuff will kill most every insect known to mankind, including bees and other pollinators.
