Holy shit I was attacked by a raccoon the same way when working in NC. Came out from under my car and bit me.

We wouldn’t have gotten it if my buddy hadn’t sprinted out and shot the thing with his p90. Good thing we did too cause it tested positive for rabies.

Be safe out there y’all. Get the shots if you’re even slightly at risk.

Did it end up working for you?? Thanks to your post I'm getting a new blender for free! My blender I got 3 years ago at kmart shit the bed just before I saw your post. I emailed them and of course they first said my warranty expired I sent a second email citing and linking to the law and said "I was hoping to resolve this with you directly but if not my next step is to file a complaint with the attorney General which results in a fine for unfair trade practice for the manufacturer. Please let me know if I need to take the next steps." And imagine that the next email response was them saying they are sending me a new one as a "courtesy"! Haha thanks for your post I hope it works out for you

Edited to say I don't even have a receipt!

Haha! Wow that was back in the days of Dave the Dogman lol. I think I remember the raccoon crisis. I live all the way up in Aroostook county nowadays so we always have issues with raccoons and other animals in the yard lol.

One time I was taking out my trash and heard a bear cub. I got the hell outta there cuz where there's a cub there's usually the mom lol.

It's up to you then. Will your wife be able to ride with you on the occasions that happens? Remember it really only snows like 20-30 days a year... If you truly both need to be on the move during those storms, then you probably should get the bigger vehicle, but if not it sounds like a waste.

Even if you don't personally care about your $27 coffee maker, we all benefit from fewer products ending up in the landfill a handful of years after they were purchased.

> I just replaced a 40 year old coffee maker and have zero expectations that the replacement will not last nearly as long. Cuz they don't make things like they used to.

While that is true, no new consumer electronic should be failing inside 4 years. The company selling such poor quality merchandise is the one wasting taxpayer resources.

> Yeah, I can see why it crapped out on ya after only 3 years. Buying appliances from places like Big Lots is a fool's errand.

Big Lots sells new merchandise, and customers are legally entitled to the same protections they would have if they bought from Walmart.

I moved to Waterville a year ago, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Lots of good restaurants in that area, great access to the lakes and mountains, so many good friends. Also, ignore all of the negative comments about You Know Whose — that place has the best locals and coolest bartenders you’ll ever meet. Happy answer to more if there’s anything you want to know.

I made the Bangor to Waterville move a couple years ago for work. Waterville is a lot like Bangor was 10-15 years ago. Exploding downtown arts scene, some nice restaurants and some good/some rough neighborhoods.

Housing is difficult, like everywhere now. Check out apartments or houses in person and drive by at different times of day/week. You'll get a feeling for neighborhoods quickly.

It's a small (physically) City so walking or biking is a good way to get around. Also no public transit or regular Uber, etc. Taxis are nasty I hear but haven't any first hand experience.

Welcome to Waterville, you'll feel at home quickly.

I used to eat at Cancun before they changed it to the bar in the middle of the dining room. Went back to visit Waterville last year or so and someone told me they'd been shut temporarily for health code violations. Sad to read about women getting roofied there.

I like Silver Street Tavern and there's a bar in Oakland on the way down Kennedy Memorial Drive on the right hand side, after all the little strip malls and stuff. I forget the name but it's a nice little place. Used to get lobster rolls from the Korner Store in Oakland. The beach at Messalonskee Lake has a nice green space and there is also a nice trail running alongside Messalonskee Stream in Oakland.

I lived off First Rangeway, there are several streets running between that and Cool Street and some have apartments but mostly single family homes. There's also a ballfield nearby so take that into account if it would bother you. But it's close to the Hannaford and all the stuff on KMD, I like J&S Oil for car washes, but KMD can get backed up on nice days by people waiting in line for a wash.

Uncle Dean's is a local health food store past the Hannaford on KMD and down a side road, 104, I think? There's also a sushi place next to the Hannaford that does the flaming stainless steel grill table side chef stuff, but I used to just get sushi in the dining room part. Scallop sashimi and gyoza pretty good.

Silver Street dentist is good.

Library is nice too. Watch out for panhandlers near the Goodwill and that whole sidewalk up and down the strip mall. Especially at night. I've never felt unsafe in Waterville but I'm sure you will be able to tell who's cool or not if you are coming from Bangor.

I guess we just have very different experiences. Because I have also driven a truck/car FWD/RWD/AWD/4WD and have very much had issues in downtown Augusta driving up the hill past the courthouse until I engage 4WD or AWD in almost every snowstorm.

I did this with my fitbit, they outright REFUSED until I sent an email to the BBB and the maine attorney General. I was so pissed. Did you know smart fitness watches from fitbit have only a 1 year warranty? There are so many search results showing they break in a year or two. Who the fuck wants to spend $300+ a year on smart watches? Can you imagine rebuying your TV every other year?

I've driven every type of drive with every type of tire in pretty much every level of snowy road. AWD/4WD is only useful for getting up steep driveways in serious conditions. I drove a rwd sedan with winters for year in the Bangor area and never once wasn't able to drive somewhere or makes it up any hills on actual roads.

As others have said it doesn't help you stop or turn which the cause of 99% of snowy accidents.

Not familiar with Bangor but I grew up in the Waterville/Winslow/Fairfield area. Not much going on there unless you like going out to the bar. Did that for a while but it's not my thing. Especially when fights break out pretty regularly. I moved out of the Waterville/Winslow area to Augusta near the Belgrade side and it's much better as far as things to do. Closer to more stuff. I don't know many people in the Augusta area though.
