Yes! I’m so glad you were successful. Also, Samsung appliances are the worst. We have a cat that was able to light our Samsung range…. When I called they said the knew it was a problem and that I could buy 150.00 of safety knobs. When I mentioned that I live in maine they were suddenly free.

Unfortunately we're trying to finish the basement which is where everything is stationed. The layout works much better removing the oil tank, so doing it later means we have to use the "worse" floor plan. Otherwise I'd totally agree with your thoughts.

I'd install the heat pump and keep the oil as a backup for a few years to test it. See how much you use it and how you like it.

I've considered doing the same (I hate how loud the boiler is). I use a pellet stove as my primary heat source in the living room, and it's kept my house warm enough that I only used 170gl in 10 months (includes hot water in the summer). I'd like to eventually add a a heat pump or two as backup, and eventually get rid of the boiler.

I'd advise not to do anything drastic that can't be undone easily or cheaply.

I'll be sleeping well for sure. I just don't want anyone scared away from trying to use the warranty because someone had the idea that it was stealing resources from Mainers or their reason wasn't good enough. I love the Maine warranty, and think more people should make use of it when it applies.

The I phone you use is probably made with slave labor in China. The cobalt for batteries in a lot of electronics and electric cars are mined by children in Africa. Boycotting U.S businesses is truly First World Problem Bullshit.

The law is 4 years in general but there’s wording about an “expected useful life” so, a small or large appliance would count, but shoes would not. I used the implied warranty at lowes for a range that quit working. Manager told me “have fun doing all the legal paperwork for that” and I said ok no problem. 30 seconds later he said ok we’ll send a repairman, and they fixed it free.

That does seem high. Here’s the website I used to grab the average: Maine Heating Fuel Prices

I’d check with them, ask them why they are nearly double the average. Was it an emergency delivery? Off hours?

Or may be dependent on how much you use, or don’t use: “Households using propane just for cooking or hot water generally pay a higher per gallon price.”

I do enjoy rearranging the wood letters they have on the end caps. Usually spelling something like birth control, anal, or other random phrases. I found if you mix them into other letters around it and make it look squared off, people don’t notice it right away.
