I'll bite. What the heck is up with these con-artist companies offering you a consolidation then trying to get you to join some "Arrears" or "Default on debt" scheme. Then they flat out lie "oh well, you will take a small hit to your credit, but it will settle quickly and we can save you thousands" knowing full well that hit isn't small. Yeah I can default, let it go to a loan servicer and pay even lower than what you are offering to get me out of debt for. The point is NOT to default ya idjits. I have no doubt they are settling debts for half the cost then giving clients a 2k savings all while destroying their credit. I even convinced one to send me a recording of the call as I baited them through trying to sell me on it for a half hour. Half tempted to turn them over to CFPB, the stuff this guy was spouting to get me to bite was insane.

When did this model start and how is it not illegal?

Side Note: I only know as much about credit as I do from being in a home refi operation decades back. I still don't know that much.

Having worked for a debt "negotiation" company that was shut down by FTC/police raid a couple months after I quit because I could smell what was going on and didn't like it...

What's your ratio of employees who engage in sales activities to your employees who deal exclusively with lenders?

^(it was one of the key metrics that clued me in that everything wasn't quite alright, when the sales force grew and grew and grew, but the "negotiation team" kept shrinking)

> "Create an app" as an answer for passive income? For real? Is this guy stuck in 2010?

well he's technically not wrong, just not easy and it does take on a gamble. You need to have a lot of skills to be able to create a successful app afterall, like how it takes a lot of skills to be successful in a MLM company. No idea wtf "flipping retail products" is supposed to mean though

So, did you check on the cycles dates? Last time I checked we should come out of an ice age. There is also a cycle which flips the orientation of our magnetic poles or something like that. Maybe you can include that to make an argument for "non man made climate change"

The earth goes through periods of warming and cooling as (from what I remember) the ellipses of our orbit changes over time.

This is why we have ice ages and stuff.

Take this with a pinch of salt though because this is a 15 year old memory.

Ohio EPA and EPA have established a 560 ppb screening value for n-butyl acrylate based on the ATSDR Provisional Health Guidance Value (HGV). All of the hits (positive detections) within the Ohio River are well below this number, around 12.5 ppb at it's peak approximately 0.2 miles from the release site. The majority are between 1-2 ppb farther away from the site, just above laboratory detection limits.

Hi, Ray! First of all, I just wanted to say that you're my favorite violinist. I first got to know you with your Arcane performances, which, needless to say, are INCREDIBLE. Since then, I've been in love with the way you play and you're the first thing on my mind when I think about what I wish to achieve with my music.

Sadly, I don't think I'll ever be able to play like you do. I have severe anxiety issues and, as you can imagine, they interfere a lot with my confidence and cause me to get very emotional over any mistake I make. Plus, it makes it impossible to play in front of other people (shaking is my biggest nemesis and it's very hard for me to control). In a few weeks I have a final in which I have to play in front of 3-4 examinators, and my biggest fear is not being able to play altogether because of this.

Do you have any tips you can give me? I assume you have been through relatively similar situations and I've seen you break a string, switch violins and keep on playing without batting an eye. Also, it seems like you really enjoy yourself while playing, no matter how nerve-wracking the situation is. How do you manage to keep calm?

I apologize if my comment causes any inconvenience or makes you uncomfortable in any way. I'm a bit emotional right now so I might've accidentally overshared or overstepped a boundary, though it's not my intention at all.

I wish you the best (especially, that your E string doesn't betray you again). You're amazing, never let anyone --- even yourself --- convince you otherwise.

I think you meant 8260D for the solid waste media. You can get equipment to look for one chemical in particular yes, but i think a PID/FID to start, maybe a mini or multiRAE would be best to monitor for long period and if it gets above the established thresholds then you could notify EPA and they could take care of the speciation of the chemicals.

just going to chime in here since I am also at an environmental consulting firm, but specialize in air sampling / exposure to airborne contaminants. you can sample specifically for vinyl chloride (NIOSH 1007), rather than total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), using charcoal tube media. Cost is about $75USD/sample. You can also use a passive badge, which is about as easy as air sampling can get, to also sample specifically for vinyl chloride. An open characterization VOC sample can easily get up to $500/sample. It would likely be preferable to compare the air sample results to ACGIH TLV's as a starting point, since OSHA PEL's tend to be slow to be revised (in this, it looks like the values are actually the same either way, at 1 ppm). But - ACGIH TLV, OSHA PEL, NIOSH REL, others etc are intended for 8-hour exposure periods with 16hr recovery periods, for 40 hr work weeks. Measurements of a contaminant within a home is a different scenario since there could potentially be someone within the home 24 hours, so the exposure limit criteria would likely come down quite a bit, potentially to 0.1 ppm.

If i'm not mistaken EPA 6820D intends to quantify VOCs in solid waste media. That may not be the best route in this instance.

The other consideration to deal with is that concentrations of vinyl chloride (and others) are likely to subside quickly over time due to its volatility. So you'd have to think ahead - if you get 'high' results the first time you sample, and then 'low' results if you sampled again a week later, was that a significant risk to your health? There'd be other contaminants to worry about - carbon monoxide, hydrochloric acid, phosgene (to manage perceptions from the public & media), respirable particulate (PM2.5), potentially metals like iron oxide / manganese / maybe aluminum from the rail cars themselves etc.

This should be higher up and have better visibility. A relative of mine had the procedure and developed severe chronic pain. His pain was minimized and hand-waved by doctors and relatives, and it was just generally shitty to watch him go through that. There are always risks and complications when it comes to surgery, I’m not sure I’d be willing to take a 1 in 1000 or greater chance of developing a complication like that instead of using other contraceptive methods in conjunction with birth control if my partner can be on it.

  1. My practice sessions usually entail me trying out new musical ideas in front of people. I'm constantly trying to put myself in the audience's shoes to create a similar atmosphere as a performance (only you get to try it again without consequences if things don't work out). A lot of people "practice for themselves" and are surprised that when they finally play in front of people they're either nervous as hell or that people don't feel engaged and tune out.
  2. Don't you know I'm the captain of this ship?

Also, I just posted. But a totally different question after reading some other posts. From my limited understanding, testicles are in some way responsible for producing hormones. Is there any data suggesting that undergoing a vasectomy could reduce testosterone?

felixdalion t1_j95feg7 wrote

Is a vasectomy always successful. E.g. is there a chance that it's not complete in some way and the person who had the vasectomy could still get a sexual partner pregnant. And conversely is a vasectomy always reversible. E.g. is there a chance that once you have a vasectomy, you might not be able to reverse it? Asking for a friend..
