Also - these were just dropped in the crown molding groves and I’m thinking that I’ll have to raise the next ones if I go incandescent reel. That heat it the reason I think they toasted out.

The owner doesn’t even care if that main room dims or not but those utilitech leds would stay on (super low brightness) even hitting the bottom off switch - I even cut the plug on the leds and tried them hardwired and no dice

When you remove the linoleum/vinyl, take up the underlayment that it's surely attached to. Pound down the fasteners... you don't have to sand the subfloor, but do screw it off to the joists. The TCA would have you install plywood to bring the total thickness to 1-1/8". That underlayment looks like the Custom branded product that HD sells - use thinset that's just a little on the damp side to lay it and have some loose boards handy to hold down the ends until it sets, as they tend to curl up. Apply two coats of sealer to the face of your stone before laying, as it's near impossible to get bonded thinset off slate. Do a tidy job undercutting casings, and use a straightedge to get the face of the stone relatively flush along the walls, or your baseboards will be a challenge.

No offense taken!

The owner was familiar with the system and we tried to dim plus turn on and off and it would not turn these off.

The top ledge had 2 lines coming in and the bottom had one - I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why they wouldn’t turn off completely but would dim and get brighter (manual for utilitech specifically said don’t use with dimmer?)

At this point I may as well just order a bunch of that and cut to length 😂

Make some like 3” wide furring strips that run the length and mount them on the wall where you wanna hang it. Use the clips as hangers maybe.. looks 1/2”-3/4”

Some 3/4” CDX furring strips would probably do the job well. MDF would work too probably. I mean it’s a single cabinet you’re not gonna be loading it down heavy I’d think.

Okay, that makes sense.

I guess the next thing I'd try to trace out the circuit with a continuity tester. Start with the single wire outlet (end of chain) and figure out where it goes. Just short white/black on that outlet, and test continuity at the other outlets. I'd hope to narrow down where the GFCI load is supposed to connect through this exercise, as well as verifying all the other wiring.

Not that this fixes your problem, but it narrows down the problem circuit. It could be a drywall screw through the neutral, mice, or some other break.
