Great point - I don't remember the exact load calcs, but we've had movers and all sorts of awkward heavy heirlooms up there in the past with no real issue, it really is just holiday junk at this point. I respect the abundance of caution though.

And to clarify no it's not an active living space; my dad set it up as a covid quarantine (which fortunately was never necessary) and decided to stick it in the corner and save space for more the aforementioned junk.

I'm just looking at the subscriptions and there's 10x more at locksmiths.

The problem as I've experienced with other subs is the right type of repliers in the sub to answer the questions.

Ie. Users may ask a question in the layman sub but may not get an answer or not a good one, so one may have better chances in the more subscribed subreddit.

I might drill a few holes in the shelf to promote even temperature distribution. Modern full size fridges tens to have solid shelves, but the interior is built such that the air flows around them sufficiently. If the fridge was designed with solid shelves in mind you might want a few holes

In the interest of “covering all bases” a few general trouble shooting tips to make sure the stud finder is functioning correctly—

  1. have you tried changing the batteries to ensure a fresh set?
  2. have you tried it against a known empty area to ensure it reads empty as it should?
  3. did you hold it against your chest and press the button eliciting the “stud found” beep and say “yep, it’s working” in front of your significant other (or pet if no significant other available)

I have a piece of Lexan PC that was used as a sign for a commercial retail freezer. We bought it used of a previous owner who had the sign with their logo on it. I would like to remove the logo to have it be a blank white Lexan sign. The sign itself is 81"x 8" (long and thin). There's is a thing layer of plastic covering the paint and the paint itself can come up with a little elbow grease, we discovered.

Local sign shops have quoted us at multiple hundreds of dollars to cut a new piece to these dimensions or cover it with vinyl for ~$100. I'm trying to figure out if its worth it for me to just manually scrub of the sign? Will a heat gun help left off the plastic covering? Will something like acetone remove the paint without damaging the Lexan?

Thanks!
