Literally middle of nowhere hahaha. And he's it's a VAN not a food truck this is a converted vehicle. I imagine it does move, but they don't.

I agree with you OP. I find nothing pleasant about fall. It’s just a harbinger of winter.

I deleted that last comment cuz that wasn't fair of me to say that. It is entirely possible that you are an attorney, you're just talking about a legal specialty that isn't in your wheelhouse and therefore you don't understand how it is practically applied. So forgive me for saying that. But I still stand by what I said, I've been doing this for 30 years, this is in fact exactly how it works - and your criminal law experience that to the extent that you have it - is not applicable to say that you are an expert on this particular field of law.

I moved from CT to Atlanta a number of years ago, partly due to the weather. I found the Atlanta climate to be quite nice. Days are longer in winter. And it ends pretty quickly. Spring comes early and is often quite warm. Summers can be hot, but are a lot milder than Florida. Eventually, I moved back due to my job situation, not the weather.

It’s doesn’t need to be mental health related. Some of us just hate winter. ‘Milder temps’ meaning it’s in the 30s does not make it pleasant or agreeable to people who hate winter. It’s still grey and dark and depressing for months on end. It grinds your soul down and so every spring your worse off than the last.
I totally get what OP is saying. If I could I afford to move I wouldn’t just leave CT I’d leave this thrice damned country. As it is, I’ll probably just leave this plane of existence instead. It’s the only way out.

Dr. Michael Shlafstein, Vernon Family Dentists. My parents moved to FL 6 years ago, and they still schedule their routine dental checkups around when they are up here visiting, because they just can't give him up. I personally drive an hour from Essex...
I went 7 years with no dental checkups even though I had horrible teeth (genetics...), and then finally bit the bullet and scheduled. I needed a crown, about 13 fillings across all 4 corners of my mouth, and my wisdom teeth removed. It took about a year of visits to get through everything, but get through it we did, and I've had my first positive "your teeth look great!" comments from the hygienists that I've ever gotten in my life after going through the whole process.
It wasn't cheap, but I was so happy to never get a whiff of the judgment I always had when I was growing up and the dentist/hygienist would accuse me of not taking care of my teeth. :( Those experiences were so negative I stopped going, which is if course exactly not the right thing when it comes to teeth...
Anyway, I see Dr. Mike now and I don't know what I'll do when he retires! He has started seeing my husband as well, who had also gone ~4 years with no dental checkups, and got him through the wisdom teeth removal process as well.
Recommend. And good luck! I am sure there are other similarly-minded dentists in our state and you can find one a little closer to home.

Had to google Chaplin, no idea it was a town in CT.

Again, of the two of us, one has clients who may have a complaint about it - one of us has spent 30 years actually doing it.

You aren't actually listening to what I'm telling you the issue is, so it's pretty pointless for me to keep spinning my wheels but I'll try one last time.
I asked you where the information came from because I was hoping there was something I could direct my clients to in order to help them. But there is nothing in the EEOC guidelines that is going to prevent employers from simply not calling an applicant back when they see pending charges. They don't have to explain that decision to anyone. But everyone knows why, and I think you know exactly what would happen if one of my clients went to an employment lawyer and said "I'm not getting any calls back on my applications and I think it's because I have pending charges."

For me the SAD is the combination of the cold AND the lack of sun. It seems our January and Februarys are full of gray days where we rarely see the sun.
I do love living here and enjoy all 4 seasons. I try to make an effort to do more activities in those tougher months to get me through. It’s not always pretty but it works for me.
As an anecdote, a friend moved to LA years ago and the weather there definitely helped his SAD significantly. But moving to a whole new part of the world brought other challenges - making friends as an adult isn’t easy - and I think it amplified other forms of depression.
The devil you know is sometimes better than the one you don’t.

It's not in the right geography, but i was in a similar boat. Avoid those chain places like Aspen. They even made fun of me and talked me into things i didn't need. I see Dr Anna Ravin in Manchester and her staff is calm, non-judgmental and kind. I was upfront, said i was anxious and i've had good experiences since.

It’s most likely due to lack of vitamin D, which comes from the sun. Winter days are shorter meaning less sun. I’m assuming you don’t get out a ton which means you’re getting even less light. It’s just shit weather

I am a weirdo and like the cold, gray, dark period of the year. Honestly I like all four of the seasons and as each one progresses you start to look forward to the season ahead of it.

Similar situation here! Born and raised in NJ, currently living in Bend Oregon, and the winters are much less cold and much sunnier than New Jersey winters, which you wouldn’t expect. And that IS nice. But I can’t be land locked like this. 4 hours minimum to the coast, and you can only get there if the mountain passes over aren’t completely buried in snow, which they often are November-April.
And there are no cities around to visit, or even many other towns for that matter, unless you count Portland which is over 3 hours away, or want to make it a 3-4 day trip to go to Seattle or San Francisco which are both 6-9 hours away. It’s very isolating. So, yeah. It’s been fun for a couple of years but we’re moving back to the east coast to Connecticut in 2 weeks and I’m honestly very excited lol

I'm happy you're a lawyer. While I'm not a practicing lawyer, I do have law degrees as well, and I specialize in employment law. From a corporate perspective, this isn't something that comes up once in a blue moon. We have 200,000 employees. We get background check issues that come up probably 5 to 6 times a week every week. I'm very happy that you're a lawyer, but that doesn't mean your take on this is correct either. Being a criminal defense lawyer does not mean that you are practiced in the hiring practices of corporations, being a criminal defense lawyer does not mean that you understand on a daily basis how those laws are applied. So once again, I'm going to make a distinction that, if you actually are a lawyer, should be relatively easy for you to understand. No employer anywhere, is going to use the simple fact that somebody was arrested, as a basis not to hire them. And the reason for that is twofold. Once again, the EEOC clearly says not to do that. Secondly, and again if you actually are a criminal defense lawyer you should know this better than anybody, a person is innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not an indicator of guilt. So one more time, take whatever law practice you may or may not have, but get yourself a slightly better corporate understanding. This is applying hiring practices to corporations. This isn't a criminal defense area, this is an employment law area.
