seriously , Cant believe the mindset of some of the posts I see in the sub. Theyll defend it and downvote anyone that doesnt.....

7k a yr just from property taxes on our raised ranch built in the 60s, in the fuckin boonies with practically no town services.... must be paying for the secretaries secretary in the town hall.

Oh yeah $650 a year in taxes for my 26 year old truck with all the rust holes in it from all the overused salt that destroys our water... $480 just to register it.. Just insane.

So Norwalk is interesting to me, I just got to visit there a couple weeks ago. Definitely more of a city feel, sort of reminded me of where I used to live in Baltimore but I did enjoy it. Only issue I've seen based on my research is the schools aren't rated very high, I've seen some areas the crime is pretty high(might be a reason I'm unaware of), but I would think the houses would be less in that area but they aren't. On the surface seems like much less bang for your buck is all.

I recently got to visit Milford and I really liked it. There was a farmers market or something happening at the green and I remember seeing a couple around our age pushing a stroller and walking their dog and just thinking this is exactly what I'm looking for. I just got "that feeling" when I visited I guess I should say. Are there any "bad parts" of Milford or areas you'd avoid? Thanks!

You can reuse traps you know.

Unless you are somehow killing hundreds of mice, how are you going through a big box?

I live in the woods too and just use these:

They say disposable, but they can easily be reset. Each trap has killed dozens of mice.

CT doesn’t have a high quality of life. Roads are terrible. New Haven, Bridgeport, Waterbury, Hartford high schools all read at the 3rd grade level. Such high quality. With the new policy of letting all criminals run free, violent crime is up dramatically. Most guns crimes in the state are committed by violent REoffenders, but they won’t lock them up for some reason. Drug use is through the roof. The new drug TRANQ is in the streets now. So great. Idiot

>In order to have only 90 minute commute to nyc office, you’d need to at least be in Norwalk and then that’s an 80 min drive to West Hartford.

Does that not meet the criteria of being "80-90min max for each person"? Proving that it is possible.

Google Maps shows 2 hours flat drive time from WeHa to Manhattan. 2:20-2:40 with traffic. Of course if you are riding the train instead you are adding to your commute time. But even if you settle on a cautious estimate of 3h travel time from WeHa to NYC, splitting the difference still doesn't work out to be 2h per person.

Your original assertion that both parties will have a commute over 2 hours is wrong. If OP moves closer to Hartford in order to reduce his wife's commute, he may be commuting upward of 2 hours, but his wife obviously will not. If OP moves closer to New York (ie FFC) to reduce his own commute, he will clock in at or under 2h door-to-door, and so will his wife. A reverse commute from any part of Fairfield County to WeHa will not take more than 2 hours barring extraordinary circumstances (major accident, snowstorm, etc). The only way they could possibly both have more than 120min one-way is if they moved somewhere completely out of the way.

Sorta - cats are the principal host for T. gondii as it can only reproduce inside of cats. The altered behavior of mice is one of the ways cats can become infected (by eating the mice with tissue T. gondii cysts). Once infected, cats excrete T. gondii oocysts in their feces that can go on to infect other animals or people. Thats why pregnant people are told to not clean their cat's litterbox due to the risk of coming into contact with oocysts - fetal toxoplasmosis can cause birth defects and spontaneous abortions IIRC.
