Another gem just down the road from Mi Pueblo is a place called La Fondita 2. I personally like their tacos better than anything I've had in the Columbia area.

Mi Pueblo in Glen Burnie. Really great food. If that’s too far, La Palapa in Old Ellicott City is good.

Also recommending Taqueria Los primos. I've had just about everything on the menu and never had a bad meal. I strongly recommend the Tortas or Chilaquiles.

Tampico grill in Laurel. I've been going there for 20 years and it's a real hidden gem. Looks are deceiving for sure, but it's the best tex-mex I've ever had

Columbia is also very deliberately green in a way major cities tend not to be.

Taqueria la patrona (truck) on Stevens forest rd has good tacos, they also have burritos & quesadillas & some other stuff I can't recall. Occasionally they have mole tamales.

I was thinking Taqueria la Benedicion (food truck) in Jessup was Salvadorean-run for some reason, but there's a bunch of pupuserias in the area too.

In the area ? Cinco De Mayo. Not true Mexican by any means but great TexMex and the prices can’t be beat. Sure other places are good too… but seem expensive to me.

For tacos - Lime & Salt on Dobbin is AMAZING. Truly. Best tacos outside of Mexico in my opinion. Fresh and authentic. Great prices too.

I'm surprised you don't like Trattoria! My girlfriend grew up around Italian-owned pizza shops and said it's the closest she's had to that quality. It's the best I've had around here too, with HomeSlyce second.
