The Cambridge Birthing Center is awesome. Two of my kids were born there. The midwives are fantastic and you have access to the hospital if you need it. The facility is an old Victorian home and the rooms are like a bed and breakfast. At least one of the rooms has a large tub you can give birth in. It was a way better experience than we had at a regular hospital.

Sarah Ellison (at the Davis location of Atrius) and Jessica Ahlemeyer (at the Atrius near the Cambridge library) are both great. I think if you go with an NP/MD with Atrius (like Sarah Ellison), you'd probably deliver at BI, vs if you went with a midwife (like Jessica Ahlemeyer) you'd probably deliver at Mt Auburn.

... I don't think they're all in denial. I think many of them know what they're doing.

Midwives at Mt. Auburn are great: https://www.mountauburnhospital.org/care-treatment/womens-health/midwifery/ (they delivered our baby)

Congratulations! My wife and some of our friends all went to Mt Auburn. We had an amazing experience.

Check out this website https://community.whattoexpect.com/forums/boston-parents.html —- it has so many more reviews than Reddit and should be really helpful to you in making your decision. At a glance, MGH, BWH, and Mt Auburn appear to be popular and have good reviews, but you can search for any hospital in the area.

There's very little visibility from the outside, and things usually get started late. I know Bluegrass Night before it moved was at 9:30pm.

I'm really open to playing anything, but trying to lean more funk/ rock (think vulfpeck/ zeppelin direction)

Tuesdays at the Cantab is Bluegrass night. Usually downstairs during and after a bunch of people jam with mostly guitars and fiddles.
Also if you're into traditional Irish music the Burren is one of my favorite places. They have music every night and there's always something cool going on in the front room.

Lilly P's does open bluegrass jams on Tuesday nights. There's usually a decent turnout and a wide range of skill levels.

dope, I've been meaning to check that place out for a while so this is a great excuse to go! As someone on the lower end of the talent spectrum, I'm excited to pick up some tips haha

There's some facebook groups like the Boston Musicians Network that have people looking to jam.

Pianist here - I’ve found the Lilypad’s open mic nights on Wednesday nights to be a good spot to meet other artists. Fair warning, though: There is a lot of variety and a wide spectrum where the talent falls.

Reply to Shower filter for shitty cambridge water? by HippieHippo
Cambridge is notorious for having hard / mineral heavy water compared to Somerville and the city of boston in general. My hair reacted the same way when i moved to east cambridge and i thought i was going crazy. I got a shower head to help a bit (mostly helped with the pressure honestly) and just resorted to splashing some bottled water in my hair after a shower to ease it a bit. There are filters for homes though (expensive) and I've heard mixed things about the shower head filters. Best of luck!

You know, it's almost as if height limits in general are bad for housing affordability, and NIMBYs are in denial that they are a huge part of the problem.
