The Cambridge Birthing Center is awesome. Two of my kids were born there. The midwives are fantastic and you have access to the hospital if you need it. The facility is an old Victorian home and the rooms are like a bed and breakfast. At least one of the rooms has a large tub you can give birth in. It was a way better experience than we had at a regular hospital.

Sarah Ellison (at the Davis location of Atrius) and Jessica Ahlemeyer (at the Atrius near the Cambridge library) are both great. I think if you go with an NP/MD with Atrius (like Sarah Ellison), you'd probably deliver at BI, vs if you went with a midwife (like Jessica Ahlemeyer) you'd probably deliver at Mt Auburn.

Tuesdays at the Cantab is Bluegrass night. Usually downstairs during and after a bunch of people jam with mostly guitars and fiddles.

Also if you're into traditional Irish music the Burren is one of my favorite places. They have music every night and there's always something cool going on in the front room.

Pianist here - I’ve found the Lilypad’s open mic nights on Wednesday nights to be a good spot to meet other artists. Fair warning, though: There is a lot of variety and a wide spectrum where the talent falls.

Cambridge is notorious for having hard / mineral heavy water compared to Somerville and the city of boston in general. My hair reacted the same way when i moved to east cambridge and i thought i was going crazy. I got a shower head to help a bit (mostly helped with the pressure honestly) and just resorted to splashing some bottled water in my hair after a shower to ease it a bit. There are filters for homes though (expensive) and I've heard mixed things about the shower head filters. Best of luck!
