I literally bought the eggs in the picture at Whole Foods on River St two days ago for $8

Is vital farms known as being super expensive? I’ve never seen it before. I just saw the price and thought it was crazy considering it’s just eggs.

The conditions that cheap eggs are produced under are a horror show. I'm sure the life of a "pasture" raised isn't much better but still good to support more human animal production.

Try Daily Table, just a block away, for much cheaper staples, including eggs

Try Daily Table down the street for any basics. HMart prices are highway robbery, and I would not recommend shopping there for anything that is sold at other grocery stores. Even Whole Foods sells these exact eggs for less. (But also…maybe don’t buy Vital Farms or really any organic/certified humane eggs if you’re not in a place to drop a lot of money on a staple food.)

I bought a dozen eggs from a store in NYC recently (running an errand for a friend I was crashing with). $3.91 for a dozen so yeah not so far off from what I expect.
