That's hilarious. Here I am just mesmerized by the solar charging.

I've been using my Vermont gloves hard for a year, chopping firewood and such. They've held up better than any other glove I've owned. I've found the wool liners work really well as stand alone gloves when fine dexterity is needed.
They are on the pricy side, but the US made construction can't be beat!

I'm just here to upvote the White's. My father, who is over 80 and doesn't wear anything else, would tell you that you're wasting money repeatedly buying anything else. It's no joke, they are a very large investment. But one you'll never regret. Just be sure to get the custom built ones, not something "off the shelf". If you can't swing the investment at this time, that's totally understandable. But it's something well worth starting to save up for.

BIFL? Hestra
Their “collection” collection is great. And the “table cut” line is incredible.

Not being sarcastic, but does that “day off” for the shoe offer some type of recovery for it?

Hehe, if you're anything like mine then you're freaking awesome. But then again, you'd also be over 80... so there's that.
FYI, and a story you might find interesting: when my dad asked each of us what we want from him in his will, my wife said she wants his boots (to clarify, she's Asian, and we take our shoes off at the door. Having his boots at our door means he would then forever be in our home with us). My wonderful wife loves my dad as much as I do.
On a happier note; I'm curious to know if White's still makes a mold of your feet to build custom boots, or if they've moved to a more modern method?

Haha. That thing will outlast you.
They have a world record for driving a bunch of trucks over it.
~~People have shot them and they keep going. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4G1wFLVgcc ~~
And tried to explode them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2NMhP-utCY
Edit: The bullet one is a hoax. Dumb on me for not double checking. There are still plenty of legit videos of people subjecting the watch to damage that would maim or kill anyone wearing it. I think it's still safe to say the watch will outlast you :)

Sounds like a man with a taste for the finer things in life.
My whites were also custom orders, and you can’t beat a thermos that looks like it’s lived a long and interesting life. I also am a dad, but unless my 2 year old daughter or 6 month old son learned how to use Reddit (god forbid), I don’t think I’m yours.

Eh, I can’t afford to spend another $650 on a pair of boots. I have a good boot care routine. Brush clean and wipe down with damp rag once a week, once a month I wash them with dawn dish soap and cold water and then apply boot oil. Most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever owned after the initial break in. Totally eliminated my lower back pain and tremendously helped my posture. The rest of my body may hurt after a long work day, but my feet sure as hell don’t. Before I had these, I was going through a $250 pair of thorogoods every 6 months. When these finally blow out, I can send them off to the manufacturer to have them rebuilt and resoled for that same $250.

No no no, sorry haha didn't mean to sound snotty. They do look great, and i spent about $90 for mine, as it opens and closes with proximity. But i should've thought about that before, because i have a huge dog who can open it and get shit out of it LMAO.
I'm sad at how much trash i produce week in week out, too. 💀💀💀🤷🏽♂️😂

You might have a look at Wesco boots. I had a custom pair made by them ten years ago, still going strong, although I do alternate btwn them & redwings & NB, depending on what I’m doing that day..

Dad?
Wait, no... my dad refuses to use the internet. But I swear he has the exact same boots, custom made from White's, and Stanley thermos, custom modified by years of use. Even stranger, his front door and entrance look nearly identical... I'm a little freaked out at the moment.

Yea Hondas and Toyotas are the most reliable probably. You can forgot to take care of them and they will be alright. The German cars maintenance like oil changes are very important, keep up on those and you shouldn't have to worry about repairing it a bunch.

BMV isn't as reliable as VW. They're both expensive to fix and maintain, but if you take care of it you won't have to fix it much at all. Besides brakes and oil, just keep up on that. They'll both do good in good hands.

Yeah, my partner bought a bin from John Lewis here in the UK (a sort of 'higher-end' shop). This one, though at the time, I could have sworn it wasn't as crazy as £200.
Still, it's the kind of item that you literally interact with every day of your life. Compared to the kind of things you can waste your money on, a bin is pretty damn practical.
