Original comment was more just an observation of "Yes, some things can be worth the price" and not a blanket statement about all things. And I do agree with you that price shouldn't the main indicator of quality

For me it really comes down to justification of the price. I wouldn't mind trying a pair for $10 to see what it's all about, and that's what I did. The important part comes after the purchase and that's the evaluation of the product. However with an increase in price also comes more scrutiny. I may be less willing to overlook some things at that $10 price point than I would have for the $2 pair.

Yeah if I were buying a laptop a framework is what I would get.

EDIT: Wow the people here really don't get the concept. It isn't about saving money somehow, its about not wasting resources. If you like throwing out complex electronics, toxic metals and lots of plastic every few years because one component is out of date then you do you. Personally I welcome a laptop where I can piecemeal replace bits that need replacing when I need them replaced.

H&M is hit and miss for me but largely okay. They’re better than like an old navy or a forever 21 or Zara. But a brand like mango is pretty darn good. I love White House black market and Gap is good for the price. There’s some mid market gems that do a good job

My laptop was 300$ and honestly still a very exellente piece of technology. Not a gaming laptop but just for internet. I play music, use my bluetooth speaker for music when I exercise, use my headphones, sometimes at night I cant use my computer at night because everyone in the house is sleeping so I just whip out my laptop and it's like having a small TV especially for YouTube just watching videos when you're bored. Helpful for workouts playing music. This 300$ laptop was worth it ! I even went to another country with it and it was handy to store my photos into it, go into my google photos and so much more. Its badass. Computers are a blessing to us all.

I honestly just rinse it twice and call it a day. Can you sell me on the benefits of washing the rice till it's clear? I just do it twice to get out any bugs/rocks etc.

Since you have one, may I ask how you clean the nonstick pan? Just sponges or do you use microfiber clothes? Idk why I'm so worried about the cleaning, probably bc of the price tag lol

Patagonia is awesome, they put the company in a trust to benefit the earth, the creator of the company spent a large chunk of money to buy land and make it a national park so it can never be destroyed, and they’ll send you materials + instructions to repair your clothes or repair them for you.

I recently burned a hole through my jacket and they offered to repair it for free (I didn’t have have to pay for shipping) even though it’s 100% my fault and not within the scope of any kind of warranty.

They’re just a level above the rest. It’s pricey but you get durable clothing and repairs along with it.

You can say these are upgradable, but the best you can buy now isn’t very good. If I got one of these brand-new, I would want to immediately upgrade it to have a better display and then find they don’t sell one.

This is an average laptop at best. I don’t think you will want to spend money upgrading it as time goes by.

The only thing about it is not absolutely bog standard is the price.

Then, when one day this bog standard laptop becomes definitely shit, you will be able to spend 2 laptops worth of money to return it to bog standard again.

Nice idea, crap as a real choice for most computer users. You are buying an idea that won’t really work out.

I cannot stress enough how much better and more consistent my Zojirushi cooks the rice as compared to the many Aroma $30 rice cookers I’ve had in the past. But here’s the real trick. Do yourself a favor and, if you don’t already have one, get yourself a quality rice washing bowl…like 10 bucks….and wash the crap out of your rice before you cook it. Like clear water when your done washing your rice kind of wash the crap out of your rice…..who knows maybe that is all you really have to do to make a bad cooker cook good.

As a framework owner, I, too, would like to see them offer one with a 15" display and a real graphics card. I got the 1240 DIY and assembled it with ddr4 memory and a drive purchased elsewhere. The whole thing was just over $1100. Sometimes we've got to pay a little more to have reparable stuff.

Which would you rather have? A mini split with refrigerant included or a system you make yourself?

Check their catalogue, they have tons of bit drivers too... Precision screwdrivers are usually fixed so they aren't wobbly, and typically such bit driver kits are 70% full of stuff you'll never need. Ultimately, if you do need it, I can understand it is annoying if you have to wait and order extra bits. In your case I'd get a set (or even order individually) of fixed precision screwdrivers in shapes I know I'd use a lot (Phillips, slotted, maybe torx and allen) and some dirt cheap bit driver set for the stuff I might need once in a lifetime.

Or get a full vessel bit driver set, they're still not a lot more than a chinese brand but have top quality...

Absolutely. I still have my old HP laptop I bought in 2005 and that still works great, too, albeit extremely slow. I think I may even have the original battery in it but I can’t remember for sure. I remember i had the cpu fan replaced under warranty when it was new and the charging cable around 2009-2010. I hardly ever use it anymore, though.
