Most kids jackets I’ve seen have lines for multiple names. At least, my kid has handmedowns from Columbia, Osh kosh and Hatley and they all do.

Given a kid wears a coat for one season, and doesn’t wear them hard at the very young ages, an 18 month size coat ought to last for like… 10 kids. A baby coat even longer.

I know you said no wool but not all wool comes from industrial farms. I am big into knitting and a big lover of wool. All of the wool I work with comes from small scale farms that live their sheep more than themselves. I really recommend looking for local, small scale farmers who shear their sheep and create wool products. If you dove into the knitting community you would find a community of people dedicated to sustainable fashion who live their sheep. If you really want to go further look into knitters/producers who are part of “shave em to save em”. It’s a program built to preserve traditional sheep breeds that are threatened or endangered. The whole premise being “make their wool valuable so they are preserved by farmers”. You are right about commercial wool being tricky but there are tons of small scale producers that will make quality 100% wool socks from sheep that are well-loved.

ETA: I almost never post on reddit so if I formatted things wrong I apologize, but that lends credence to how much love I have for wool and small scale shepherds!

Reply to comment by knuF in Le Crueset still BIFL? by pussayforlife

So my view on the price is a bit skewed because I used to work with a guy that also worked at bed bath and beyond and got me hooked up on the 7.25qt Le Crueset for $175. Since falling in love, I’d buy it for full price tomorrow and have no regret but before I got it I was definitely considering staub. Like I said, I didn’t prefer the black enamel because it hides the fond, but I DID like the points around the lid to condense steam when braising. They are definitely a really high quality product.

They do and add a lot of moisture to the air. The carbon monoxide could be a real issue if used in a small environment with little fresh air, like a bedroom in a modern home. Ok in a garage which probably isn’t super tight and you probably aren’t sleeping next to it.
