UPDATE
I received a reply from Red Wing:
> Thank you for reaching out to us at Red Wing Shoe. I wish I had better news for you. Unfortunately due to your gait, and how the leather has formed around your foot, there is not much else that can be done for these boots.
> You could try to find some very thin insoles for extra comfort but this may cause heel slippage which could be more uncomfortable.
š
Lesson learned: don't wait too long with re-soling if you have a weird gait like me.

Yeah after buying a Staub 7qt for a steal I wish I could have got my hands on a Le Creuset for the same price. It actually really irks me to not be able to see the fond develop

Bluestar is a spinoff of Garland, as far as I know, which does seem to be available in the UK. Prices seem to be about the same as my area in the US ($$$). But, commercial ranges are simple and don't really break often and they are easy to repair. Avoid computerized ranges if possible.
Just make sure to get one with auto-ignition. That feature should be mandatory.
There's also this brand:

As far as cast iron goes, Le Creuset is what you buy when you don't know enough to buy Staub. Price is generally about the same. The glazes on Staub are beautiful, as compared to the sunburst thing that Le Creuset does to imitate a good glaze.

Williams Sonoma usually has some pieces on sale, or you can get it secondhand on ebay for cheap.

We had a major ice storm in the mid 90's and lost power for almost a week. One of these kerosene heaters was our only source of heat during that time but it sure worked well.

They are Beasts. I love mine as well. They changed the base which bummed me out as my wife had one made for, and I can't use it anymore. Still keeping it though.

They are epoxy resin.
From https://www.lecreuset.com/care-and-use.html:
> The black phenolic lid knobs on our Classic range of enameled cast iron are heat-resistant to 390°F / 190°C.
If you pay extra, you can get the same quality metal handles as the Lodge ones have out of the box.

My Le Creuset handles are aluminium. They do not melt.

It brews at a specific temperature and flow rate. Not sure about the bloom. I just purchased one and it tastes better than my attempts at a pourover.

Nice! I didn't know they made those. Big fan of multi-clad stuff. All of it (even the stuff that's dual-ply and aluminum on the outside) seems to last really well.

Back when they were made to last. Now they are a planned obsolescence brand.

Speak for yourself. The quality has gone down.
Itās an equally crap product compared its competitors, let alone a decent product. Iāve bought several brand name pop grips since 2021 and theyāre all equally shit. The swappable cover pops off easily, the other swappable cover with the left press and click snapped inside (I couldnāt swap covers), the premium finishes get worn out quickly, and the telescoping plastic has torn off on two. I keep giving it chances because of the brand presence but itās an awful product

The bigger the sub the lower the quality threshold for conversation. Agree 100% with you, this is the opposite of buy it for life and deserves more downvotes and way less apologists who are trying to gaslight you from even the spirit of the subās namesake
