We had one in our basement around the year 2003 of so. My mom and I were upstairs playing Halo. We paused the game while our shields were beeping, but the beeping didn't stop. Our fire alarm downstairs was going off. The wick inside didn't get fully snuffed and the whole thing was smoking/burning. My mom grabbed a towel, got it by the handle and chucked it outside while yelling for me to get the hose lol.

Is chipped enamelled cast iron safe to use? People seem to have different answers. My Le Creuset stuff is underwhelming, they always seem to burn things, even on a low heat

I bought my shallow casserole 2 years ago in outlet store and I use it frequently (1 or 2 times a week). I wash it only in dishwasher and I use harsh tablets because I'm lazy. It's not as pretty as new (shine is gone) but enamel is intact.

AllClad for pots and roasting pan, one big Le Crueset dutch oven, Kitchenaid for mixer, and Oster for blender. Cheap non-stick pans are preferred and replace them as needed (non-stick wears out regardless of the brand). Check out your restaurant supply store for sheet pans (half-sheet), look for rolled steel.

The AllClads are a joy to use and are bomb proof. I admire them every time I'm using or washing them. Totally worth the money and BIFL gold seal.

Knives are so crazy personal, there are so many videos and guides. This is a good place to splurge if you want a "kitchen trophy".

Mish-mash is the way, a big set is rarely worth it. Don't be ashamed of the patina that pots and pans develop - that's evidence that they work hard for your family!

They have excellent customer service, so if they do chip or etc then they will send out a replacement without much questioning. I have done this multiple times, with handles which have fallen of mugs, to chipped or worn enamel.

If you buy the non stick frying pan, it says you can use it in a broiler, which typically heats up to 500-550 degrees F.

If the pan is heated to over 475 it ruins the non stick coating and will not covered by their warranty. They will offer you 50% off a replacement.

By all means be negative! I love the nitty gritty on this stuff. I was generalizing as it pertains to Everlane since I figured most people wouldn't be interested in the weeds of the matter. Sucks to hear they're perhaps worse than the other folks in the 'ethical fashion' space. But everyone under that banner is phony. There's a big degree of fluff to all these companies and I usually willfully ignore it since cheap shit made in China won't last any longer anyway. Anything made from "ocean plastic" is a scam too but... I mean if plastic is my only option sure, I'll use recycled plastic.

I really only have two tanks from Everlane and nothing else, but at a minimum I appreciate that they're cotton and seemingly high quality. Kinda hoping they won't just fall apart for the freakin cost.

I grew up hanging around shops with dad and his friends in the Midwest, those heaters were ubiquitous. That’s what they called them anyway. 🤷‍♀️ I dunno where the term came from or when. Maybe cause they are low profile long bois that move around wherever? Lol no idea
