Get a pair of KEENs! I’ve had low back problems for the last 15 yrs and assumed I’d be following Dr orders of wearing “only well-fitting running shoes” for most weekly activities.

Had many issues with that then trial and error’d half dozen trail shoes thru work boots. Keens (especially their mid to high end boots) are the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever worn. And they will take years of abuse in my experience. Again, this was their mid to high end outdoor/trail shoes and work boots. The only boot is tell u is better are red wings. But most redwings are $300+ out the door.

*I will caveat this by saying I normally need a 3e or 4e width. If you have any extra width in your feet, KEENS are perfect.

I'm not a fan of branded merchandise. But if it was actually quality branded merchandise, I would be OK with it.

I think Jansport is one of those "bang for your buck" brands. I bought my son a red Jansport backpack when he was in 7th grade. He's senior in college now and still uses it. He bought himself one for his D&D stuff when he was a freshman. Still using it.

I buy used Jansport backpack off Craigslist all the time to have as backups when needed.

Breathable is pretty much off the table as, like you stated, your issue is top wear and anything mess is gonna be a no.

Comfort is a not as that's personal. No one can tell you want is comfort like no one can tell you your favorite album, movie or pizza topping.

BIFL sneakers start and stop with Margom sole as they can be resoled by a cobbler. So put that into google and see what you like, but you will likely be paying more than your budget.

Alternate advice is to get 2 pair of identical shoes and alternate the wear. Same color or perhaps different but same type. One famously known long wearing shoe is the Adidas Samba.

Having currently owned 5 JBL speakers, I respectfully disagree. Mine have all been fine and sound great. I’ve used my JBL Charge 4 since it came out in 2019 and it still works flawlessly, for example. I’ve had two Philips. One completely died and would no longer turn on, and the sound is very weak and poor on the newest one I just bought.

Bought this bad boy with a small stack of BR gift certificates just over 30 years ago.

It's traveled with me to 5 continents, all over the US and probably the oldest thing I own that I didn't inherit.

Solid as an Army duffel with heavy canvas and tough zippers with thick leather pulls.

If you're of a certain age you'll remember when Banana Republic actually sold really high-quality, unique stuff that was meant to survive an actual safari.

This is one of the last holdovers from the GAP acquisition.

Totally understandable when I bought mine in Japan it’s was $25, but when you buy things for life they’re not always gonna be cheap, plus it’s bomb proof and feels nice while using

I also have tri-ply aluminum hard anodized, Calphalon One, and they are 15 years old now, look almost perfect. I use the 4qt dutch oven twice a week, the fry pans and chefs pan(think wok with handle) in between. They clean up beautifully with Bar Keepers Friend. They even have a large caldero (5.5 qts) and the quality is much better than the cheap ones in the store. I don’t think Calphalon makes this line now but All Clad makes a similar one, also Analon. I have several sizes of Le Creuset but I find for stove top these are lighter. I just use the roasting pans that come with the set for the oven. Hard anodized is partially non-stick without a coating that breaks down.
